WØRKS On Hand: Osteria Oggi

Osteria Oggi, on Leigh Street in Adelaide, has a confidence that's difficult to articulate. Designed by renowned architectural designersStudio Gram for restaurateur Simon Kardachi, the space is proof that restraint, done properly, reads louder than excess ever could.

We're proud to supply the amenities across Oggi's bathrooms: our Vetiver wash and balm on hand for patron comfort in a space built entirely around considered decisions.

The brief was simple. The execution wasn't.

Kardachi runs several other Adelaide venues, most of them dim, textural, and moody. He wanted Oggi to do the opposite: bright, simple, and built around the kitchen rather than hidden from it. Studio Gram's founders looked past Italy's clichés and toward its piazzas instead, borrowing the formality, repetition, and materiality of an outdoor square and folding it into an interior. The result is a long, narrow bar poured in concrete, that opens onto what feels like an outdoor dining room, sheltered under a saw-tooth roof that floods the back of the restaurant with natural light.

Almost the entire fitout is new work behind an old facade. Only one original wall survives inside, and the studio isn't telling which one.

Why an amenities partner matters here

A space this considered doesn't stop being considered at the bathroom door. It's easy to spend a fit-out budget on the dining floor and treat the amenities as an afterthought. Oggi didn't, and that's exactly the kind of detail we built WØRKS for.

Our Botanical Wash is made by saponification (proper soap, not sulphate-based hand wash), and it sits well in a room where every detail is a decision. Smoky glass designed for permanence, a premium material in place of plastic bottles - and sensory experiences that give guests a moment of reprieve. 

The transition from day to night

Studio Gram's founders said the best way to understand Oggi is to sit in it at different hours, to watch it shift from a bright lunch service to something moodier once the sun drops. It's a nice thing to have in common: the way a considered space or a considered product both reveal themselves slowly, not all in the first five minutes.
